Flying Log Books - What colour for op Telic
Niff Naff and triv but would appreciate knowing the colour that should be used, if any, for Op Telic sorties. Presently stuck out in the dusty place so not a lot to go on. A reference would be handy as it appears no one is too sure!
Cheers Chaps.

There was a good deal of BS about this in GW1 as well. In the end we just used the normal colour. The same as for every other named Op in which the AAR force has been involved for the last 13 years.....

No idea where it is written down, but green has indeed been used traditionally for combat sorties. That of course raises the question: 'what is a combat sortie?'

WWII tradition operational sorties in green, all others in black, although anything very special about the normal sortie written in red in the remarks column. Personally I would enter Telic missions in green if they were delivering weapons or support over Iraqi territory where a threat exists. Also supporting the delivery or support missions (eg tankers). Any other sorties (transit, training, etc) in black. Anyway, that's what we did in GW1 and nobody made any noise about it.
This reminds me of the occasion when I came across a first tourist's log book that was, apart from his Shawbury days, all green. Hey NI is war was his reply!! It was an OP of sorts, had to be but couldn't remember which one!!
Would imagine 'green' would be ideal for operating over Iraq (regardless of altitude).
In the past, cross-border sorties have been annotated in green. Stress to add that that would only apply to authorised cross-border sorties and not ones just to complete the 5 ticks.
And yes, you would be laughed out of the kebab house if you included re-supply runs through Cyprus.
Keep safe now, there are still rag'eds out there.

Use Green ink for all the sorties. They were under combat situations. Also you can use a whole page for one trip so that you can write down details of your trip/sortie. I did it during the last gulf war, nobody bothered and I have a lasting memory and record of every mission carried out, with all the info and exciting/scary bits attached. Somthing to hand to your Grand children, and infact just like log book entries for WW2. Go for it, make this bit in your flying carrer a diary (I did). no one can complain, and after all you ALL deserve it. Write down your mission details, threats encountered etc, use both pages and use Green ink. Your boss won't bother (because you will already have done it and you can not erase it) and your grandkids will love you for it.
