Final Act in Baghdad?

While there has been Iraqi resistance, it seems to have only made a few days difference in how long it took to encircle Baghdad.

Interesting how all those bridges remained standing -- definitely would not have happened in Switzerland. There might be a special forces story behind that, unless the Iraqi military were unwilling or incapable of setting proper demo charges and some press reports have mentioned failed demolitions.

Robert Fisk reported that the Iraqis were masters of concealment and saw several examples -- perhaps they are still hiding in a ring around Baghdad and maybe even they prefer to continue doing just that.

Perhaps the Republican Guard does still have a surprise up its sleeve and it definitely would be after the attentions they have received from the B-52s.

So let's thank Saddam Hussein for helping make this war so far quick:
  • Leaving the bridges intact for the Yanks
  • Leaving the Republican Guards outside Baghdad where they could be bombed to oblivion without a world outcry.

So how do you winkle Saddam Hussein out of 5 million people?

Flooding his bunkers would be a start. He may have pumps, but once you find the exhaust for the motors or generators, they can be stopped.

It seems that the Yanks know who built the bunkers and I would not be surprised if they have per$uaded the engineers to pass on the details.

I too am interested in this Iraqi "information" minister and all these events happening in "Iraq". Where is this Iraq he keeps talking about? His loft? His brother-in-law's garage? 1:72 scale?

Cool

Actually, my attitude to the chap has changed from contempt, to mild amusement, to feeling sorry for him. After all, he's standing there like a brave little soldier, spouting total rubbish, whilst the rest of the regime seems to have gone AWOL. I do hope that when the coalition forces finally get to him, they pat him gently on the shoulder, offer congratulations for a job well 'spun' and take him away for a nice cup of tea ... in a padded cell.

Don't let the little ****'s incompetence and failure to comprehend his forthcoming predicament soften your attitude.

Remember he is the mouthpiece for the kind of bestiality people in the UK only have nightmares about and he deserves nothing more than a double tap or a cruise missile up his backside for the War crimes he is party to.

Where are all the liberal tossers questions about the several hundred bodies (probably tortured and executed by all accounts) stored in a warehouse in Southern Iraq. Forget the WMD for a moment and ask what kind of regime keeps these kind of trophies, and worse why ?

That disinformation pillock gets little credit in my book. The regime has brainwashed and thought controlled the Iraqis for years. And when all appears to be lost they still do it. He will go to jail no doubt and he deserves to.

But you have to admit that in spite of knowing that the airport is taken, he STILL insists that it is in Iraqi hands. "The invaders were there but we have driven them out." He must believe it himself.

All that being said. I am mazed that with a power cut that anyone can actually receive what he is saying. Or did I miss something?

He'll be spared in the aftermath...word is that El Tony wants him on staff as an ability to keep a straight face whilst delivering good news in the face of overwhelming proof to the opposite, is a skill much valued by New Labour.

So! Some more people who'd cheerfully throttle the little jerk as well ...
As for those clowns dancing around that abandoned Abrams, when we all saw live, what really happened ... !! Good to see them scatter like startled rabbits when the jet flew over. (Interesting motto on the gun barrel, though.)

Iraq's information minister

Maybe it would be fitting if we just buried him under the increasing number of microphones on his lecturn. He can only just see over them now.

BBC Snaps Up Media Star

There is however no truth in the rumour that the BBC has waved a lucrative contract in the face of the current (and soon to be past) Iraqi Minister for Information whom they describe as 'quite a performer' with 'star potential' and 'glowing integrity'.

I hear that that this very morning (7 May), from the roof of the Palestine Hotel, this odious creep was pontificating to journalists that the US troops had been well and truly dicked when you could clearly see US soldiers fighting in the background!! Alas, despite the nonsence he spouts, there are many in this Country who will actually believe him, or want to.

I liked the comment this morning by two US soldiers, who were no more that a mile away, when told by a News correspondent that the Iraqi Information Minister was saying that Baghdad was still in Iraqi control etc ... suggested that they should take a walk down to where he was and "put him straight".

I wonder if they ever did?

And by the way, why was he holding his press conference outside; he has a lovely Information Ministry, still under Iraqi control, (by his own admission) where he normally does his press conferences.
