I mean WTF is that.
And the point of the question? Did you think it could be done with 5 guys, a blunderbus and the Regimental Goat? Do you know what the primacy ratio for effective OBUA is? Would you know if this figure is realistic? Would you understand what goes into a commander Combat Estimate to arrive at such a figure?

If you don't know and would like to, ask the questions and we will tell you. If all you want to do is ask faceatious questions, perhaps you better leave the rhetroric to the ignorant and unwashed rant merchants of the Socialist Workers Party.

I admit that I was one of those who thought it would be over in a week. Now where looking at a month simply to get the supplies together before they try and get to the outskirts Baghdad
Your first statement mitigates the second.

Please, do tell us from your years of GSLogSupp and CSLogOp experience exactly how long it should take. An if you would be so kind as to outline your plan for MSR reinforcement to the FFMA I should be grateful.

So, to your mind, we invade on day 1, move hundreds of miles in day 2 without firing a single shot, move thousands of men in behind on day 3, move hundreds of thousands of tons of fuel, water, food, munitions, using tens of thousands of vehicles and helicopters and sort, distribute, and re-supply on day 4, take Baghdad on day 5, secure it on day 6, and go home for tea and medals on day 7.

Can someone please explain to me where the flaw in this plan is, because A Civilian obviously knows considerably more than the rest of us? Either that or he didn't think things through when he thought it would be over in a week, and more worryingly is surprised that it isn't all over by now.

As if it didn't need pointing out, wars very rarely go entirely to plan. I cannot conceive of anyone with the slightest amount of common sense thinking that this would be over inside of a week. Anyone who can see that with 300,000 troops in area there is a huge logistic requirement to support an operation of that size. So why then are you horrified that it might take a month to get the re-supply organised?

Next time you move house, or move around your office think about how long it takes to pack, move, and un-pack. Now imagine taking all of the kit required to sustain 300,000 troops and doing roughly the same with it. Now consider the issue of troops in multiple locations, and the transport requirements of getting the supplies to numerous far-flung places. Then consider the complexity of handling bulk supplies of everything from fuels that cannot be mixed, water, food, munitions which have to be handled correctly, and so on and get it to a certain location for a certain time without leaving anything behind or damaging it en-route.

Suddenly a month just doesn't seem such a long time does it?

Please excuse me while I find a heart surgeon and tell him that a heart transplant shouldn't take more than 10 mins as it doesn't involve much and it isn't really that involved. When he squares up to snot me, I'll tell him that A Civilian has inspired me to consider the pertinent questions and deduce informed opinion about his profession from a position of gross ignorance. I think he'll see the error of his ways and join me.

So what your saying is that im an ignorante foolish civiy who doesnt know what he's talking about. I noticed that you didnt say I was a ignorante foolish incorrect civiy who doesnt know what he's talking about

This is how I see it Saddam didnt surrender know were really screwed because we cant attack a city with all these imbred reporters around watching, Iran and Syria are actively opposing us, we dont have any allies, turkey has told us to f-off, the entire British public expected the war to be over in a week like last time, nobody (including me) wanted it in the first place, Blair is now a walking dead politican he wont be in office in 3 months if the war continues and finally unless Saddam cop's it this war is going to be going on for years as their no sign that the Iraqi's in charge are going to give in.

I’m old enough to know that you attack the argument, not the poster.

I’ve met kfb1 and, whilst I don’t always share his views, I know his background, respect his knowledge and appreciate his well-reasoned arguments.

Biggles

The problem with kbf1 is that he is slagging off people for believing what their leaders told them.

Are you saying we should not believe our leaders?
