Treble One Sqn shown returning to Leuchars from the Gulf on BBC. 4-ship is seen doing a run and break and BBC voice-over says "the Tornado jets celebrated their return from war by doing a victory spin over the airfield"

Thumbs down

And then there's today's report on the BBC website of the F3s returning home to Leuchars, with a nice picture of a GR4!

Radio 4, 05:30 today:

America is scaling back it's number of aircraft in the Gulf. As part of this two B-52 stealth bombers are to return to the United States.
B-52 stealth bombers, eh? I see no ships!

CNN today

Female anchor person is telling about a French diplomat's visit to Syria.
She stops to listen to her 'in-ear listening device'.
"We have breaking news on our POWs" .........................
"There is news of our POWs" ............... "We are bringing you this news now" ..........................................................
"We can't bring you that news, maybe later"

She then continued with the news about the French diplomat.

Any thought for the families of those POWs? Negative!

Hig the Pig, my recognition training is a little rusty, having been out of the forces for a few years, so I don't know the correct name for the US Armoured Recovery Vehicle that pulled down Saddam's statue. However, our very own Royal Engineers are equipped with a Combat Engineer Tractor that looks nothing like what you see on your average farm.

Morning news bint

And the top story this morning is that the 7 American POW's which had been given up for dead have been found alive.

Excuse me, GIVEN UP FOR DEAD!!!!!!!

This is getting silly now, a strongly worded email on its way to GMTV. Quite frankly the test card would be better than this crap.

So you want balanced reporting? Easy. Read the Daily Telegraph, where everything the Coalition does is right, and watch BBC TV, where everything the Coalition does is wrong. Then add them together and divide by two.

Just read yesterday that the 'luckiest marine alive' story was a spoof. Seemingly the Royal Marine who had four gunshot rounds to his kevlar helmet received them courtesy of his mates when his helmet and kit were peppered whilst they were shooting at an unexploded mortar round.

The press picked up on the helmet and started their own suppositions, the marines neither agreed nor denied and a feeding frenzy ensued. The paper quoting this story stated that all Royal Marines have a sense of humour!

The RN are there too...........which seems to have escaped much of the media. See the following........

On another note, one reporter refered to "Royal Navy minehunting helicopters" - is this a new role for the Merlin, or was he simply confused?

Cool

Not again......

WEBF, the RN is already good enough at trumpeting its successes without you doing it for them!
