When is a Deployment not a Deployment?
When the MOD say so.
It appears the MOD are using the sort of tactics we normally expect from the undemocratic middle eastern states, to play-down the presence of UK forces in Kuwait. Reporting of a visit to Kuwait by HM's Leader of the Opposition (ironically, in support of the PM) has been strictly controlled by MOD minders, who attempted to prevent IDS giving interviews.
I don't normally speak out in defence of the press (or the Tories), but on this occasion, the MOD have treated them with contempt. The Government should have the courage of its convictions and allow free reporting of our deployment in Kuwait. It's hardly a secret!

Maybe there isn't actually a large scale troop deployment at all? Perhaps its all a big bluff by the goverment and 40000 plus troops are being held in a hangar somewhere, maybe South Cerney...
