Cool Cold Datum Charlie away!

As I look out the window it is getting very cold down south, obviously not as cold as Ice Station Kilo, so I am off further south. In fact just about as far south as you can go without getting cold again but I may have to drink lager.

Sorry I did not get up to do the rounds before I go, but I am sure within the little maritime world our paths will cross again perhaps over a beer or a choice bottle from the cellar.

Despite the valiant efforts of the career desk and the impending Airmen Aircrew review I have decided after 13 ˝ yrs to go, the poster campaign and website would not work for me.

For those of you who have been a positive influence on my life, I thank you for your patience and top-cover. For those of you who were bad influences I have some very fond memories but no regrets! I had a blast on a maritime Sqn, still think it is the best place in the world, I pretty much hated the last 5 yrs behind a desk it does not suit me. I wish you all well for the future, even you splitters who now have careers. I have to start reading up on this Dry filth and try to remember the stuff I used to do.

Give my kind regards to the girls from Buckie, New Elgin caravan park and not forgetting the ladies of the Joanna’s Wednesday club (always good for a lift back to camp). Remember the first rule of spit roasting never look at another man's war face, right hand to right shoulder.

Was that a fat joke Charles?

Good news, look after that deaf dumb and blind bloke called Kev for me will you. I am sure that between the two of you the EMATT population of the southern oceans will remain safe and free.

Luckily the Chimp population of Stalarg Edinburgh improved alot a few years ago when I left (found the stick too hard to get all the way back!).

Just remember, you don't have to have a good time to drink!!!!

From your first post I take it you like girlies now. Good to hear.

Cool

A Gaelic blessing:

May your pint rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back (Always has been in your case)
May the sun shine warm upon your fat, chubby face,
May you stop pissing on your boots in the pub,
May Kerry take you by the the scruff and give you a good slapping!!

Mate, Sorry not to have had one last drink before you go - but "I know
where you'll be livin" - Dead on!
I hope you have a wonderful time ahead (like there's any doubt) and that we
will meet again on the other side!
And remember.......... if you smell burning.......... it's probably you!!

See, the clue was in the name all along!!

Don,
a lot of people did mention that when you left here for a more sandy climate, that the average IQ of both places went up.... although our average BMI dropped considerably...

To all... don't believe everything Don says.. I caught up with him a few months ago and noted that he was slimming down - trying to impress the trolley dolly's perhaps?

All the Best Charlie. In a country that size you have a 50/50 chance of passing yourself off as a slim-bloke ! Enjoy

Thumbs up

Seeya Geezer,

Good luck down under. Remember, there'll always be a slot back at Ice Stn Kilo for you (and for another couple of dozen - at least) for the next 20 years on MR 2.

Well the Datum is kin hot, slightly more than the Deadloss microclimate.
Start work soon but then after 4 months kicking me heels and the girlie, it is about time .

Everything has come together nicely the wine is not to bad but the port sucks, dont get me started on the beer, but I will persevere, eye candy v.good

Charlie,

Congrats on getting yourself established. Word is though that quite a few folk are thinking of joining you out there.

Suppose you could form an entirely expat crew soon

Charlie,

Good luck and all best wishes for the move to sunnier climes'
I would have loved to have been able to join you, but age is against me now, and so I shall just fade away gracefully here in Blighty.

As we used to say in Maritime, 'keep it in yer pants'

Good luck
