UAS QFIs
Just wondering how the UAS system has changed in the last 12 yrs, and are you chaps out there enjoying yourselves on the Tutor.
Any comparisons to the old Dog?

Sorry, not a UAS QFI, but can provide a bit of info on changes in the last 12 years...
i) UAS no longer a social club with a flying section. In 1995 it became "official" RAF EFT with all the paperwork that entailed, and counts as the streaming course for students who complete the syllabus. Hence proper end-of-course reports etc.
ii) Since 2000, several UASs have acquired Direct Entry flights, with instructors whose primary role is to train (surprise!!) direct entrants. They only fly with the undergraduate members when capacity allows. Obviously this load will increase when JEFTS goes.

The Tutor is a good aircraft - don't let anyone tell you it is rubbish. What it is not designed specifically for is UAS/RAF flying, and therefore it falls down on some points through being a PFI and bought from market rather than a specific design to meet the exact RAF requriements. Plus military register would have been helpful. Past posts will give you a better picture of how it is going now.
