”Well I suppose you could call them a kind of stabiliser.”

”Oh, when he learns to fly it properly they will take them off like you did on my bike!”

Um!
I think you mean Typhoon, not Tornado.

The original gag is about the wheel stabilisers on the Harrier wing-tips, which makes much more sense.

I was at an open day air display at RAF Odiham in 1979 when a little boy asked a Harrier pilot (who was from the OCU at Wittering) about the Harrier’s wingtip “stabilisers” for trainees. The pilot didn’t find it too amusing, but I did!

Lol that’s just the sort of thing my Dad would have primed me to ask..🤣.

I remember the Gr3 being a regular performer at Odiham family’s day, along with Vulcan, Buccaneer, and of course the mighty Puma!
