Having flown camouflaged fighter/interceptors in support of the Royal Navy of course I know that.

The irony is a dedicated display aircraft (ie to be seen) that is camouflaged (ie to be hidden).

...perhaps it just means when the A/C goes tech / or want to attend 25 displays in one day .....they can claim it flew and put on a great display!

RCAF F18s that had dummy cockpits painted underneath
Pretty much all Classic F-18s (not sure about the Super Hornet) have that if I am not mistaken.

The Moggy nickname? What has that got to do with this design? Please enlighten me.

Lots of thought in it then. FMG does have some more interesting acronyms, without the roundel.

The 2007 Jaguar OSD scheme had a way better nickname from the 6 Sqn Groundcrew. Bet Lynch.

I like it, a full scheme for the 80th, it really looks good too. It is nice to see the RAF being proud in its identity and heritage again and projecting that, instead of the poverty stricken half hearted anniversary scheme they did previously. They should be proud of what they have achieved, past , present and future.

Incidentally, didn’t they do an Hawk in a similar style scheme years ago but had to repaint it after the season as it was difficult to see low level.

The paint is in service stock. Ceremonial schemes bar national display aircraft do have a shelf life dictated to their use. That is black and white in Kings Regulations. Would have been signed off by CAS and the Camo Working Group for approval. I do like it as well. .

What’s important is that the commentator will have an interesting historical, military, aviation and human story to tell during the always impressive Typhoon display - one that spectators of all ages will remember when linked back to the family friendly ‘Moggy’ nickname. A good job all round.

19 had one painted in a green and brown scheme with a yellow 19 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of it introducing the Spitfire to squadron service.

Given that it's a Tr1 jet I wonder if it will end up in a museum in this scheme later this year?

I took that jet to an air show in Cognac to show it off. It did look great.

There have been Typhoons in early WW2 green/earth and partial Desert Earth/Mid-stone schemes before. I think this is the first green/grey one

Where are they? I can't see them... the green and brown one is particularly invisible

Grey/Green Camo with light grey nose, nothing new there but I suspect a less technical reason for 19's then sister squadron.
