I wonder if Lockheed are starting to get concerned over the orders this is picking up at the expense of what probably would have been Herc orders.

I wonder if Lockheed ever did a study at re-engining the Herc with a pair or four turbofans?

Would there be any point, its got a straight wing so probably could not go much faster and at the speed it flys turboprops are likely to be way more efficient. Updating engines to more modern turboprop or some type of composite prop might be an option?

Good for Embraer, but why choose a jet transport for a country as small as S Korea and no distant military interests?
Seems like the C-130 is not only adequate, but perfect there.

Hueys are seeing the end of their cycle with Grey Wolf taking over some of their roles.

Seems like the C-130 is not only adequate, but perfect there.

South Korea contributes to international operations all over the world (the RoKAF operates the A330 MRTT for this reason), most recently helping with the evacuation from Kabul. Over recent years, the RoKAF C-130s have operated in Afghanistan, Angola, East Timor, Nepal, the Philippines, and Indonesia, and from 2004 to 2008 the RoK Army was deployed in Iraq. Plenty of need for the KC-390.

C-130 - 20 tons
C-390 - 26 tons
A-400 37 tons

And the Mitsubishi C-2, same PLD as the A400M Atlas, but 60KTAS faster and double the range with that payload. And it is made by people who make fine items.
