I heard something about Russian AN-12s causing some level of disruption over southern UK when delivering their contest aircraft to either Bristol or Hullavington for the 1970 World Aerobatic Competition... Sorry, more thread drift...

There was also an AN26 who landed on 10 at Odiham; apparently the appearance of 3 airfields (Lasham, Odiham, Farnborough) when he expected only one 'confused' him; well that's what he claimed.
I was night flying from Odiham and heard a Navy Wessex pilot being cleared to land by Odiham Tower. After landing he requested taxi instructions. ATC suggested he got airborne again and taxy four and a half miles north east and report finals again.

I do know the pilot but because he was Royal Navy and obviously therefore a far better pilot than me I’ll keep quiet about it…

Well the runways are parallel. Must have mistaken the Fur & Feathers for the metropolis of the Warnboroughs and Odiham.

3 or 5?

The Wessex? No idea, it was dark.

Fair enough. I was naughtily wondering if he was a Jungly or there was a non-pilot also involved.

There was an army helicopter landed on at Odiham and requested permission to taxy to the apron, when asked what he could see he replied an old comet airliner..

Then there was the popstar Gary Numan who set off around the world in his aircraft and his first stop was Lasham Odiham for fuel which didn't bode well for his trip, he spent some time in the guardroom I believe until it was sorted out.

At the time of his flight, Gary was operating out of Blackbushe; he did his PPL course there in spite of his agent trying to get him to stop; I was present on many occasions.
After getting his PPL he bought a Cessna 182. On his first takeoff, he got very close to the trees at the end of the runway (Runway 19) because he wasn't aware that he had a prop control as well as a throttle and he took off in coarse pitch.
Then he bought the PA31 for his RTW trip, ex US reg and equipped with an early type of RNAV and decided to set up his own approach into Blackbushe.
We watched on radar; it was very difficult to convince him he was approaching runway 27 at Lasham and not 26 at Blackbushe but we managed it in the end.
I'm not sure if his landing at Odiham actually happened; it could be that NutLoose has been misled because Odiham didn't stock AVGAS, only AVTUR/Jet A1 and Lasham only kept enough for their own tugs; I often ferried Cessnas between Blackbushe and Lasham and I was always reminded to make sure I had enough fuel left for the return leg to Blackbushe.

He didn't intend to land at Odiham, as he was going to Lasham, I can remember seeing the aircraft on the airfield and was told it was Gary Numans and the reason why. The mind might be playing tricks but I think it was the 182 ish.

Edit:
It was probably his 210, see below
