Don't be too hard on them, at least they know what an aircraft looks like, that should be worth 50% on an exam.

These posts will have been made by a low paid staffer, I doubt any politician is going to be spending time faffing around on Photoshop making a graphic to post on social media.

To be fair they are historically equal opportunity abusers - the ship here is the Russian Battlecruiser Pyotr Velikiy…

It happens so often you can’t blame low level staffers, there should be a process to get them checked being posting - it’s not as if there aren’t enough military hanging around Congress…

Well ya gotta admit the Kirov class is a handsome vessel. Not that I would ever want to go to sea in one...

Am I missing something?

It would appear that well meaning patriotic members of the US political system, National Security Agency/Central security Service and the Intelligence community have posted images of support for the US Air Force on the day of its 75th Birthday;

it would appear that these separate and unconnected posts are factually incorrect as;-
  • • The NSA/CSS post appears to show images of two Swedish Gripen Aircraft.
  • • Congressman Mike Simpson post appears to show images of US Navy F18 Aircraft.
  • • Congresswoman Kathy Castors post appears to show images of US Navy Blue Angel Aircraft which has bizarrely had the US Navy logo pixilated to make the images semi-legible.
  • • Congressman Brian Masts post appears to show an image of a Soviet Kirov-class battlecruiser

Can these unconnected posts be just simple errors of judgement carried out by inexperienced staffers or is there something else going on?

Social media might just be a lower priority job handed over to interns and such that use image libraries from the web without any deeper knowledge.
