2015 Remedy

2015 Remedy
Just got some stuff from AFPS telling me about something I have not heard of before - "The Remedy".
Does anyone know anything about this? Is it - "The Remedy 2015" - good, bad or not important for those of us old enough to have retired before 31 Mar 2012.
I am instinctively suspicious about these things - but can I now go and buy a super yacht or should I sell my car and get an old rusty Fiat??
Any useful help would be much appreciated - because the AFPS Quarterly Digest does not help a whole lot!!

If you retired before 2015 then I am struggling to see how the (McCloud) remedy would have any effect on your pension whatsoever. The remedy addresses the illegal discrimination between those with more or less than 10 years left to serve at implementation of the 2015 changes across the public sector pension schemes, including AFPS. If your pension was already in payment and you were not accruing additional pensionable service on any of the schemes in April 2015, there was no effect on your pension and therefore nothing to remedy.

To support what E S says above you needed to have been in service both on or before 31 March 2012 and on or after 1 April 2015 with any break in service of less than 5 years. If you fall into that bracket you will have the option to elect whether you wish to receive legacy scheme benefits or equivalent AFPS 15 benefits for the remedy period (1 April 2015 – 31 March 2022). As you indicate you left before Mar 12, it’s just white noise
