RAF Quetta - Tempest Rocket Firing Demonstration

Just looking for any information about this, which took place on 11/11/1946. Anything welcome!

TIA, Andrew

Hi Andrew, do you have any information as to which squadrons Tempests were involved? My father was flying the Tempest II in India around that time with 20 Squadron, I'll need to dig out his log books and see if he was involved.

If you are unaware you may soon get a chance to see one in the air, they are doing the runs now and it is due to, if it hasn't already, fly...

A very quick look at the 540s suggests it may have been 152 Squadron, but on 13 November 46 rather than 11/11. AIR 27/1026/31 (page 67) Not a huge amount of detail but enough (also involved 20mm strafe demo).

Thanks Nige. I know that No.152 squadron was, but No.20 may well have been as well. Will try to look in their ORB.

Thanks also, Loosenut. I did, and am very much looking forward to seeing it!

cheers to both

Andrew

A beautiful aircraft, takes me back to the Sussex skies of 1945-50 when the Tempest could be seen almost any day.
If I had managed to join, it would have been my recruiting sergeant.
