Air Force One. Choice of A/C

I remember back in 1989 USAF ordered a brand new B-742 in order to replace the B707 used as Air Force One. The question is why the B744 was not choosen. More range, newer techonology..

around 1991 my former employer was buying new Rover 827 traffic cars. Some numpty ticked the ACS (air con) box on the spec sheets instead of ABS. Result -0 more accidents but cool as a cucumber when you hit the wall

Perhaps same thing happened with AF1?

Angry Scarebus!!!!!

MarkD,

You have got to be kidding....Airbus???! They would never reach top-of-climb before it was top-of-descent with all the cigars and boxes of "buy some mates" handouts that the Yanks have to carry when on meet and greet tours ,conveniently disguised as MRE's. (MRE's - Meals Ready to Eat for those who haven't had the privledge of tasting them, they are great with 4 litres of Tabasco sauce!!)

They will always use a real blokes machine....Boeing all the way!!!

Maybe I should have specified Trents as well...

How you didn't see that poor gag coming is beyond me.

ORAC

The E4B point didn't occur to me - makes sense.

Boeing are also American, so he probably won a few votes not buying European.

Due to the ability to stop you up for weeks on end (especially the crackers and peanut butter) MRE stands for Meals Refusing to Exit
