It is important to get rid of any salt deposits after a sustained low level maritime sortie by thoroughly washing the ac with fresh water. More powerful cleaning agents may be required for the crew seats.

Has there been any official account of the reason for this RW overrun yet?

As in 'official', not childish PPRuNe contributors' attempts at humour, that is!

I’ve not seen anything, most sites just appear to be giving out the same as this one.

I presume ownership by the Bureau of Reclamation is why there isn't a lid over that section of the canal, which seems like it would have been a really valuable addition - though maybe the cost of that lid would be more than this one plane (previously used, so discount priced.)

The canal makes a dodge to provide clearance with the end of the runway - a lid could have been included in the construction of the canal - the "Lost River Diversion Channel"

Across the canal is a flat farm; a lid would have been helpful. 90% chance an engineer told them they needed a lid and has been high-fiving acquaintances with "I told them so."

A thousand feet though, I bet no one envisaged a departure travelling that distance.

This should have been a "sitter" for the Caption Competition - but you've spoilt it by all the hilarious comments here

Could equally (but less graphically funny) be called "Squawkhawk" because of the bloody racket they kick up when they're not ****ting on us
