WSOP

Hello all, I have recently passed the CBAT for WSOP and I am aware of the various WSOP roles. I am just curious to hear of the experiences that people may have had within them (ISR),(Acoustics), (Crewman), (Air Loadmaster) with hope to gain more knowledge about the role as a whole. I know service needs will win over preference but as of now I’m unsure which one id rather more! Cheers!

Congratulations. Whatever role you undertake, you’ve got a great time ahead. I’ve flown ISR for a considerable amount of time and can give you a lot of information about that. PM me.

If you can pull fit birds, lift heavy things, hold ten pints, and enjoy a vindaloo you’ll be well suited to a career as a Crewman 😆👍🏻

Sorry I tried to reply but I’ve realised others are correct and it will not let me reply. Thank you for the message ! At the moment I’m struggling to find information regarding the differences between the ISR roles (Acoustics, EW and Land). Any help with this would be great.

Rather like having to send an email a day to qualify for MS apps on Modnet, just post your question 10 times on here and voila! IM access! And blunty defeating aircrew initiative shown!

Air Traffic & Weapons Controller

Hello all, I posted a while ago before I was due to attend RAF OASC for the role of WSOp. Following my visit to OASC I was unsuccessful for WSOp but they have offered me the role of Air Traffic & Weapons Controller (Sergeant entry). I am over the moon with this! I now just require a phone interview about this specific role and I was wondering if there are any serving or ex Air Traffic & Weapons Controllers that could give me any further information about the role (Additional duties, career progression, overseas postings etc) ... anything really!
Furthermore , I am required to know what the not only the first but the second and third tours could be like.
Much appreciated, Ryan.

From my understanding, the weapons controller specialty of the role is what used to be 'Fighter Control'.

Congratulations! Not an RAF person, so I can't answer this, but I am pleased to see that your quest has been successful.

CBAT are Computer Based Aptitude Tests conducted at RAF Cranwell as part of the application process. WSOp is an Aircrew role - Weapon Systems Operator.

Whole application has taken quite a while! CBAT was a joke, 2 hours into it and they had a power cut ( I couldn't believe it ) so I had to travel back down to Cranwell to finish that again. Then first attempt at OASC I was unsuccessful however they mentioned I shown potential and advised I returned in 6 months. I waited the 6 months and contacted my recruiter multiple times asking to arrange a date for the 2nd attempt, only for them to come back and say a mistake was made and I should've been told to return in a year.... so I then had to wait a further 6 months. (I had waited this long so I persisted in waiting more). Finally this April I returned and although I was not selected for WSOp they still wanted to offer me an SNCO role so here I am going for Air Traffic and Weapons Controller. Such a relief to be moving forward. Just this final small phone call interview to do just to ensure I know what this new role is about and then I can start training.
