Pitch Black 2022

A few videos of the attendees and their show down on the beach Thursday, no one complains about them ripping around the city all day and early evening hours, probably memories of when the Japanese made their first raid and dropped more bomb tonnage than they did at Pearl. Base open to the public today for static display.

They did complain in the 80’s with dogfighting over the City and the Kiwis getting a little too low on their run-ins. Not following the inclusive theme of the ADF either- where’s the PLA contingent?

My complaint is that it’s no longer the ‘80s with low level action over the city.

Still have fond memories of seeing a B52 at low level over the base, heading north with two Kiwi Skyhawks chugging along behind.
or the air shows at the open days, with Mirages and then Hornets diving to very low altitudes and pulling into the vertical.

But the Mindil Beach Sunset Displays are a good touch. Particularly the apparently traditional “scare the **** out of the crowd” final act.
