201 Sqn Poseidon in long range SAR

Rowers rescued
Well done to the crew and all those involved. This capability was such a loss following the retirement of the Nimrod.

I wonder what the ratio of successful long distance/rows across Atlantic to aborts/rescues/failures is?

Extensive resources are expended on these adventures.

Not intending to negate any of the great folks that coordinate or conduct SAR, and the mariners that offer assistance.

This guy tried to run up the Atlantic Coast in a "hamster Wheel"....again..

This guy made it 8 days into his planned 4 month attempt:

this guy didnt make it:

For the sake of accuracy, from the Poseidon's perspective it was neither Search nor Rescue. An effective long range top-cover mission nonetheless. Nice to see the capability being exercised though, will no doubt go from strength to strength.
