US Military Aircraft Crash - Imperial County, CA

5 confirmed deceased.

Nearest bases are MCAS Yuma, AZ and NAF El Centro. CA.

Near Glamis (sand dunes in the middle of nowwhere) - 4 confirmed dead - 1 unaccounted for.

CMV-22B (COD variant) circling crash site already so may have been with it

Crash site is inside a Military Training Area - NAF El Centro airfield crash vehicles on site now

From NAF El Centro "We can confirm that an aircraft belonging to 3d Marine Aircraft Wing crashed near Glamis, CA. Military and civilian first responders are on site.
Contrary to initial reports, there was no nuclear material on board the aircraft. More information will be made available as we receive it."

Any word on the phase of flight? There's nothing but sand and sage around there. A helicopter descending into sandy terrain can be a VFR into an IFR situation.

Training to realistic combat assault conditions enters the "danger zone".

Now confirmed as from Marine Aircraft Group 39 based at MCB Camp Pendleton, CA.

Now clear from several videos that the completely burnt out wreckage in one location is all that is left

Better scale against the airfield fire fighting vehicle clear here
