RNoAF retires F-16

Today the RNoAF flew the last operational flight with the F-16 out of Bodų.
At the same time the F-35 assumed the QRA mission from Evenes.

Video

32 F-16s are sold to Romania for 354 million euros, and about 10 to Draken Intl.

Bob Wilmer was by reputation a real pain, but oh man could he cook. The F-16 is pure brilliance.

Salute!

You know you are getting old when most of the planes you flew are retired or handed off to another user.

I salute the Norway troops I flew with in 1979 for my own check out, and theirs. They flew the very first Vipers in the frozen north and helped develop many inprovements on the beauty.

Out of the fleet of 76 there are 48 which are viable (and available) for onward sale: 12 to Draken, 32 to RoAF.

I knew the total order was above 50, if we kept pace like for like per capita, we should be looking between 400 and 500 delivered so far.
