Many moons ago on arriving at the crew hotel in Mainz met by the men in black before we could even get off the crew transport and told that our hotel had been requisitioned by POTUS ( George Dubya ) and his team. ( The clue was probably the Seals in RIBS churning up and down the Main river fully armed ). So told to get back on, and decamp to the sister hotel in Wiesbaden where everything was on Uncle Sam. “ Just to clarify everything “. “ Everything “. Fine dining, booze, spa treatments the works. Captain just signed for the collective bill at the end of it. Which I seem to recall involved a lot of 7’s.
Given the provenance of most of our cabin crew, of course a red flag to a bull. Only downer was the 30 hr stay didn’t give quite long enough to do some real damage !!
