Llanbedr

Perhaps not strictly military but just heard that Llanbedr is closing in 2004? Cant be good news for NW Wales. Thats pretty much all the economy from Barmouth up to Harlech (unless you count the caravan parks).
Seems a shame, Llan was a personal fave.

Thumbs down

Yes, cunningly announced by his Mooniness on the last "sitting" day of the recently finished HofC session.

Apparently, combined with the changes in use of Aberporth and West Freugh, will save £300m over 25 years and "......will transform the T&E business into the effective, modern organisation that we require."

Needless to say, no sympathy expressed for the estimated job losses across all three sites of 400.

Of course this means one less base to divert to with a catastrophic problem. Oh well you can always leap out, although that would offset the savings!!!
