US bombers deployed to Arctic skies from Norway base
The US has deployed long range bombers to Norway for the first time. Four B1 bombers will be operating out of Oland Air Base over the next few weeks.
It's being seen as a message to Moscow that the US is ready to defend its allies in the strategically contested Arctic region, which is rich in oil and gas. Under international law the North Pole and the ocean surrounding it are not owned by any country.

Bodo Air Station
First time B-1 has landed inside the Arctic Circle and according to US Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa
"For the first time ever a B-1 landed in the Arctic circle
During the flight, the B-1, alongside =AZVjsjWsmgWhWLRw3eT-nMajX8AFJNfL8XW-Y8jqCnPlPNsJ5sD3FUVE2L3mwYZgnvUlCcs-HDIobxztdkhy0FGxi07galSYTxiKnnBG8pR4wZPIRg5hWCuuGe8gRstIvfq5 FktM2xg8TH72AH5JA-NM&__tn__=kK-R]U.S. Special Operations Command Europe members, provided critical support to Norwegian and Swedish joint terminal attack control training.
Additionally, the B-1 conducted a “warm-pit refuel” at Bodo Air Force Station, Norway, during which the crew stayed in the cockpit while the B-1 received fuel so that it could return to the mission more rapidly.
The B-1 also integrated with four Swedish JAS-39 Gripen fighter aircraft"
Have to admit in the first photo, laughingly reminded me of the scene out of Firefox when Mitchell Grant lands beside the nuclear sub to refuel on the ice gap.

Great photos. I would think an Ellsworth B-1B crew would be better suited to the climate than a Dyess crew! (recent cold snap in Texas notwithstanding)
The Sniper targeting pod still looks like the bolted on afterthought it is. Effective however.
Agree with you Chopper- it does look like the movie scene.
