Military Aviation A forum for the professionals who fly military hardware. Also for the backroom boys and girls who support the flying and maintain the equipment, and without whom nothing would ever leave the ground. All armies, navies and air forces of the world equally welcome here.

I vaguely remember a face mask being part of the ensemble. I think it was introduced not long before the new respirator and was worn with full noddy suit etc, less respirator.

Ah, yes! The Facelet wasn't it?

Wish I still had a respirator - love to see the faces of people at Tesco's if you wore one of those and uttered loudly: "Haven't you heard the latest?" (in suitably muffled tones, naturally!)

Yup, the L1A1 Remploy Facelet. You can still buy them on eBay.

I also remember someone using the facelet to collect spent brass after a day on the range, so at least it had a use.
