Aviation Nation 2019 - Nellis AFB
For you guys back in the UK who don't have any decent military air shows these days, I'll be posting some videos by others from the excellent as ever free Aviation Nation show at Nellis AFB which is held over Veterans' Weekend every 2 years (currently).
Organization is top notch - with over 200,000 people attending over the 2 days - drive straight into free parking at the nearby Las Vegas Speedway and then only about 20 minutes to get on base through USAF manned security screening and free shuttle coach ride.
Shorts & polo shirt weather too in November !
What they call the Combined Arms Demo has been refined considerably over the past 3 events and is now better than ever - 25 minutes of non-stop pairs of F-22As, F-35As, F-15Es, F-16Cs and A-10Cs tearing it up all over the place with pyrotechnic simulated ground attacks, aircraft flare releases, and CSAR demo with the new Search & Rescue Tactical Vehicle and a pair of HH-60Gs.
Also, the F-35A Solo - the last by the current F-35A Demonstration Team Commander - was excellent.
I'll also post some of the videos from Sunrise Mountain which look down and give a better perspective - particularly of the F-35A's turning and climbing ability.
Best oldies on the ground were an all black Vampire (ex-Swiss AF), an A-37B in Vietnam scheme and the F-86.
Draken had a new desert brown disruptive scheme L-139 and there was a new digital blue camo scheme F-16C (chosen from airman submitted ideas).
