How tragic. The E-26 is not fitted with ejection seats, so an engine failure below bail-out height over the sea will invariably lead to ditching. A similar low level EFATO overland would also pose considerable risk to the crew.

This could have been an RAF Prefect - which has the option of ejection seats, but the version supplied under the MFTS contract does not include this option.
