“The real Top Gun” and “[Valley] is the Oxford or Cambridge of fighter pilot training”? The QWI staff at Coningsby might take a different view... Holyhead Comprehensive, maybe 😉

Airborne footage looks good in those brief clips and nice to see OC IV Sqn too, he’s an engaging man. Hopefully some more good PR; the quality of it has seemed to improve lately. Dare I say that Defence and documentary makers have come to understand each other a bit better in recent years?

7 Up .....
Perhaps they'll have to rename it '' 7 Up '' . As we hear it's that long a training pipeline , so if they start at 7 , might be in Sqdn service by 28 .
Hope it's as good as the last one . If it's not only another 6 years until the 70 part of 7 Up is shown .

Damn, condor17 beat me to it. The series could run as long as Dad’s Army, and end up with Cpl Jones making it to Flt Cdr in 2035.

A shame Truckies or Rotary don’t rate in the public perception, let alone ATC or Admin!

One would have thought that recent Chinook activity would stir the public's - if not the filmmakers' - imagination.

When I was privileged to command RAF Shawbury, I always tried to slip a news clip of the latest rotary "heroics" into the Station Presentation, pause to let it sink in and add "...and those crews all trained at Shawbury".

Perhaps it quietened the odd complainer, if only temporarily......!

Great, we could say "they all flew the Tutor" too.

Once again, only thoughts of pilots. Remember there are other people in the crew who contribute to the overall mission success!

I've had several local Builder's Merchants deliver 1 tonne bags of sand/top soil etc, and always marveled at the dexterity of the driver/hoist operator. However, I doubt any of them would be able to fly a MAD trap at night. So perhaps a series on Maritime would be of more interest, as well as highlighting the multi-crew aspects of this highly specialised role. Alas, it may be several years before we have the wherewithal to provide the resources to produce such a blockbuster.

Not from me - which is why I specifically said:

"...and those crews all trained at Shawbury".

I'm sure it could get off the ground now with some episodes in the pie factory - the lead in for a succesful maritime mission starts years in advance
