Six Weeks of Blenheim Summer

What a great account of a short period of time in a Blenheim pilot’s life.
Brought both smiles and misty eyes.
Heartily recommended

Often forgotten that the Blenheim also played a significant part in the Battle of Britain, with I believe 12 squadrons taking part. The only Battle of Britain medal group I ever owned was to a Sergeant Prosser, who was a Blenheim air gunner. His crew was credited with shooting down an Me 109 during the Battle, no mean feat for a Blenheim.

I would also suggest A Pilot’s Summer by Frank Tredrey. It covers the author’s time at CFS shortly prior to the Second World War and captures the atmosphere of the period very well.

Thanks YS
The Blenheim Summer reminded me of how moving these accounts can be - the losses and hardships endured and the stoic, enthusiastic attitude to just simply try your best and “bugger me” if any foreigner is going to invade these shores.......

When I was on 92 at Leconfield our line F/S was an ex Blenheim AG. How I wish I had the sense to enquire a bit more.

My son gave me Blenheim Summer as a Father's Day gift last month - it really is a marvellous, but extremely sad, account of one pilot's 'adventures' in the Battle of France.

I've just finished reading 'Six Weeks of Blenheim Summer', a well written book, sad to learn the number left from his band of 24 men, I'd like to find out about the rest of his RAF career, he retired as an Air Commodore?

Thanks for recommending this book. It’s written in a very matter of fact way which makes the drama, horror and bravery somehow more intense.

I've just 'Googled' him and found a few links one of which shows a list of his postings.
