Spirit of Freedom LC-130H

While on business at Le Bourget a fortnight ago, I wandered over to the AIA / DoD area and got tour of the NY ANG 109th AW ski equipped LC-130H with the new Hartzell NP2000 props. So here are my photos of 'Spirit of Freedom'. Last monday it passed through the 'Hall en route back to NY from the show.

Cheers

To be fair to UTC, it's their prop, not Hartzell I think

Nice to see the old engine gauges.......all very familiar, except the landing and taxy light panel to our old Ks.....and the more modern avionics of course.
Happy memories of many hours in one of Lockheed's finest....along with a bunch of characters.

Rocket assisted take-off; known as JATO in the C130 world as that is what is written on the control panel and jettison handles. They will be dummies as they ceased manufacture many years ago and the last remaining 'safe life' bottles were used-up by the US Navy Fat Albert display and the LC-130 missions. The LC-130 community have sought a production contract for new bottles but no idea where they got to with that effort. The new props must help with the performance though.
