Military Aviation A forum for the professionals who fly military hardware. Also for the backroom boys and girls who support the flying and maintain the equipment, and without whom nothing would ever leave the ground. All armies, navies and air forces of the world equally welcome here.

Brian, there was a guy on the cadet course before mine, with whom I shared the same digs, who was an ex FC (and I believe a 'chopped' pilot) .Prior to joining CAA,he had been at Maastricht, and we both ended up on the same watch at LATCC,though he on South Bank.

Curious to know more about this. Did he get wings at the end of it, or was he still a wingless wonder!?
Engineers and doctors both did flying training as pilots, navigators I think, and AEO. They got the brevet, flying pay, and did a full flying tour. The aim was to enable doctors to better understand the conditions of high performance flight and engineers to be better informed later in their careers. I think largeky it died out by the 70s.
