The Seller's Notes say "Serviceable unit" but the description says that they have been "deemed unserviceable." Let's hope the full description is right.

I may be talking out of my knowledge area but believe it would be difficult for any layman to supply the correct voltages to power them and the main capacitor up let alone to then 'fire' the unit. Even if they knew what pins on the connectors needed to be powered.

Not all of them available, the Jag one says

This item is straight from the MOD and has been deemed serviceable however we have no means to test if you are reusing the product please make sure you get the item appropriately checked and issued for use.

Woops, missed that. Let's hope it's a typo, or the wiring is too confusing.

The problem is, Paul, that a lot of the bad people are not "laymen". I plead total ignorance, but I suspect these units are capable of causing great harm.

When the Jags went to Cosford the RAF removed the lasers and sent them back to Ferranties, Ferranties made some available to owners of Jags ( museums etc ) after removing the lasers etc from inside so they looked correct but we're in effect just a case. They removed them at Cosford as they were worried a trainee might accidentally fire one I believe.

Even the US ones might still have serviceable lasers in them. Just surprised they are being sold to the public. Herod when we had jets return with laser problems, I.e on, they would tannoy for everyone to remain indoors and away from Windows until the jet had taxied in and shut down.
