John Foot

John Foot - Valiant and Victor navigator has died at his home near King's Lynn in his late 80s.

John served on Valiant, Victor K1 and K2 tankers over a long period. He was my nav radar leader on 214 squadron and was a popular figure - he and his wife Olive were generous hosts and always up for a party. Distinguished by his snowy white hair from a fairly young age, the last time I saw him was at a reunion in 2014 and I told him that he hadn't changed a bit - he had always looked ancient!

Anyone in the area who wishes to attend the funeral can get details from Bob Tuxford - PM me for his email address.

I remember John, thoroughly nice chap. Didn't he retire to Cyprus at one stage? I have a vague memory of visiting his house for a BBQ.

The Silver Fox, an absolute gentleman. He moved to Cyprus, where he built a boat from concrete....which caught fire. He will be missed!

Yes Alex, he did have a place in Cyprus, in the village of Pissouri (or something like that). He was my nav when we were the first RAF crew to return to the the country after their bust up with Turkey. Drove up to his place to find he was local; hero! He had told the village headman to use his place for evacuees. All the other owners had kept their places locked. But they had been "requisitioned". We had a wonderful BBQ and were treated as local heros!
