New to the Iranians....old kit to the Western Air Forces.
Should hostilities kick off....they become instant scrap metal.

One always plays to the Enemy's weakness.....not to their strength.....right?
Compare the capability of the F-22, F-35, and even the venerable F-15 and F-18 to this Iranian aircraft and consider what an engagement would look like.
The Iranians would never even get WVR if the Tactics are correct.

I saw a clip on BBC showing an F-5 and was confused ... I was expecting their Airfix Stealth jet!
Q: I assume they run out of airframes before run out of Mx?

Well at least the guy in front has the decency to have his head bowed in shame when the picture was taken......
I know it's funny to tout the F5 as a 4th Gen aircraft, it clearly isn't, but I do respect the Iranians talent at keeping their fleet of mid=-70s ac going considering they've had no OEM support since the revolution. As for taking Northrop's venerable little fighter and conducting a major modification to the vertical tail to produce the Saeqeh there must be some talent in country, whether home-grown or imported. Even the F14s remain(ed) viable for a considerable period after the split from the west.

According to the Aviationist - https://theaviationist.com/2018/08/2...ed-f-5f-tiger/
The F5 was the testbed for the upgraded cockpit and avionics - the actual aircraft wasn't ready to be unveiled.
Makes you wonder why they made the announcement without the actual aircraft there.

...just maybe it doesn't really exist! Disinformation, ruses and other tricks are all used in "warfare"...
Ecce Homo! Loquitur...
