An outstanding Marine who will be greatly missed.

Oddly enough I was only watching his epic Full Metal Jacket performance a couple of nights ago - a total counterpoint to the snowflakes of today.

RIP

Full Metal Jacket

Filmed at RAF Bassingbourn too.
The final battle scenes were filmed in the old London Docklands during the regeneration period.

Certainly frightened the life out of me when I watched him in the film.

He would have certainly sorted men from boys when drilling recruits in real life!

That was because Stanley Kubrick wouldn't fly, so he filmed most of his movies 'close to home'.
Really enjoyed R Lee in Mail Call (it was on the History Channel over here - back when the History Channel was mainly interested in history and not cheesy reality shows).
RIP Gunny, you earned it.

Which he did, as a DI at MCRD San Diego, 1965-67.
