Thank you for your comments. Daz certainly makes a huge effort on behalf of CXX sqn and I think we should be very grateful.
You got me thinking - I got my AE BREVET forty eight years ago and directly joined 204 sqn in Ballykelly on Shackleton MK2 Phase 3 WITHOUT an OCU. A baptism by fire and I was rather afraid but lived in awe of the guys who were not afraid of the Shacks.
(I met a guy at Headley Court [from P Staff with a broken leg as well]and got him sloshed at the Cock in Headley and he changed my posting from Topcliffe to Kinloss direct and it was Topcliffe to BK and then to Nimrod MR1 OCU, and then off to 203 sqn in Malta. All with virtually no experience at all...... It's not what you know but who you know and Daz is one of them.

Clearly this has to have a closing point- to get the ties on order - so can I suggest midnight on Palm Sunday 25th March. Any late comers, ask Daz about the next order in 2019.
That makes a lots of assumptions though !!!

Via Honington - no.
Quite a few of 204sqn. went to MDSU at Honington but I was sent on to St. Mawgan on my own and then crewed up with a part Kinloss PART mix and match crew on to the Nimrod OCU. Then loosely formed what was going to be 38 sqn, temporarily holding at St Mawgan with the same buildings as the Canberra sqn - followed 203 Crew 1 and then we went to Malta where I was moved again to Crew 2.( maybe they were trying to tell me something ! but Crew 2 was altogether the better outfit and for a while the best on the fleet.)
All a bit confusing - especially to me. Oh - and they decided I should be a 'dry' man at the OCU - I really did like MK 1c and Jez but I had no say in the matter.

But - I still kept proficient on the Mk1c unless we were in close on the job when the three
