Spitfire over Sussex today

At around 4 pm today a Spitfire flew over me just west of Ditchling on the west/east Sussex border. It was quite low and coming from the north east, before banking round, levelling off and heading roughly south east over the South Downs . The wings seemed to be marked with the 'D-Day stripes'. Does anyone have any idea what it was doing here, as as far as I know there are no airshows round here today?.
