"In the continuing battle between aeroplanes and the Earth..."
I'm trying to find the origin and correct form of an aviation quote or cliché I'm sure I saw in the Military Aviation area of PPRuNe, but which I apparently can't remember closely enough to allow the search function to tie down.
It is something like: "In the continuing battle between aeroplanes and the Earth, the Earth has never lost." Any thoughts gratefully received...

Maybe this...
In the ongoing battle between objects made of aluminum going hundreds of miles per hour and the ground going zero miles per hour, the ground has yet to lose.
"Mildly" Eccentric Stardriver
Aeroplanes fly (basically) using Bernoulli's Principle. The Earth works according to Newton's Law of Gravity. A Law beats a Principle every time.
Ecce Homo! Loquitur...

The probability of survival is inversely proportional to the angle of arrival.
The probability of survival is inversely proportional to the angle of arrival.
Remember one thing, the Pk (Probability of kill) of the ground is always 100%.
— origin unknown, but a much used philosophy by the instructors at the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center (NSAWC) in Fallon, NV.
