Tornado GR4 ZD793. Heading south.

Passed Tonka GR4 ZD793 in kit form on 3 lowloaders heading south on the M6 near Manchester. I hope she's heading for a loving home.

I saw it too, but I only saw the fuselage and tail fin. XV markings on the tail. It made me sad seeing such a majestic beast reduced to pieces.

It always gets me how large they seem when on the road.

A conservatory etc installation company near me has recently erected the fin of a GR.4 at the front of their building on a plinth. No squadron markings, just the firm's phone number. Caused a double take from me the first time I drove past it.

There is an F3, ZE966, which is being restored to a graceful state currently at Hawarden Airport (EGNR). Arrived a couple of weeks ago from many years in storage and the team there are just starting refurbishment work.
Visits and donations are highly encouraged - information can be found on Facebook under "Tornado Heritage Centre".
