Doppler Pulse Radar +the notch.

I've just read 'No Escape Zone' , about the SHAR that got shot down in Bosnia.

In the book he describes a method of 'hiding' from DP radars by flying perpendicular to them. I can see it working in theory but I just wanted to know if this method works or is the profile you need to fly so precise it is not practical.

It works, it's practical, it's a tactic that (in the main) is in the public forum.

That's how we used to defeat Bloodhound in the Vulcan - until they got another piece of kit which made the tactic ineffective!

A very well proven (mainly in training it has to be said) tactic.

Doesn't work nearly so well on later generation radars however.

Remember all those poor nav's cursing and holding their breath (and elstrobes) as you went through the 90.
