Another one bites the dust

Another British company has fallen into the hands of an American giant. E2V is in the process of being sold to Teledyne. For those with a sense of history go back through a few name changes and E2V becomes English Electric of Canberra, Lightning and locomotive fame. I confess to an interest in EEV, as it was, as my father spent most of his working life there. I still have, somewhere, a drawing he made to explain the difficulty of fitting the helix to a travelling wave tube - whatever that is, and don't mention magnatrons! I'm afraid I was a poor student.
I suppose the sale is just business, but it seems a shame that another part of our history will be gone, especially after the company name is changed.
