Give the pilot, organ donar, or whatever you call the guy strapped to it a couple of .45s and you have a low cost fighter.

I bet they don't really wear Breitlings. I am sure the hands would all fall off at the moderate gs they must pull, and the batteries would not last as long as their flights anyway.

Given the rumours of the Red Arrows re-equipping, are there any plans for the Patrouille de France to do the same? Their Alphajet steeds must be even older than the Hawk.

The Patrouille de France Alpha Jets were delivered in 1981 - the Red Arrows got Hawks in 1979.

The French Air Force plans to upgrade the Alpha Jet to last through to 2028/2030.

I can see the future , the RAF Red Arrows in formation wearing jet packs, with a guest Hawk joining it.

Great pictures, nice images above Provence (Lubéron, Mont Ventoux, Rhône vallée)

French aircraft, French pilots in the aerobatic team, and Swiss flyers and technology.... but... why Dubai references all over that place ?!?

The rocket man is sponsored by Skydive Dubai and has been for a long time.

622:

The PdF Alpha Jets and the Epsilons used by the other FAF team are all allocated civil registrations alongside their military serial numbers. Quite a few of their transports are as well. I guess it is to assist in diplomatic clearance for transiting various countries.

At around 2m 30s you get a glimpse of the airfield the event is filmed over. This puzzled me at first as it obviously isn't the PDFs home base of Salon, or their practice airfield at Plan de Dieu.
A closer look made me realise it is the old Saint Christol airfield near Rustrel, once the base of Frances ICBM force and now the home of a Foreign Legion Engineering Regiment.
The aircraft will have taken off from Salon and rendezvoused with the Jetmen over the airfield to start the film shoot.

The Salon base is very close to the busy A7 Autoroute and a display there could have caused chaos, with traffic slowing to catch a glimpse of the action.

They rehearse everyday over Salon de Provence and Ecole de l'Air in winter, at about like 12.15 ..... .....

Thank you anyway for the nice spotting of St Christol....

Bring a spanner or two and they could do inflight repairs.
