"OPERATION EPIC FURY" BOMBER MISSION #2

I can confirm that 3x B-1B "Lancer" bombers from Ellsworth AFB have conducted strikes against Iran regime targets overnight after a non-stop flight from the United States.

This is the second bombing mission we have tracked thus far.

I am releasing this information now as the bombers are clear of the combat area back over the Atlantic heading home.

We have slightly more information today on the tankers involved, despite the sheer chaos going on around the mission overnight!

Didn't bother them during GW1 & 2 and Afghan.

I think its more likely the next flight of B-2 from Whitman, won't make the return trip, and instead head straight on for DG, and then operate from there instead.

Greece deploys frigates and F-16s to Cyprus amid rising security tensions

Greece will send two frigates and two F-16 fighter jets to Cyprus as security concerns escalate around the Mediterranean island, Defense Minister Nikos Dendias said Monday.

“Following the unprovoked attacks on the territory of Cyprus, Greece will… contribute in every possible way to the defense of the Republic of Cyprus in order to address the threats and illegal actions taking place on its territory,” Dendias said.

He added that he will visit Cyprus on Tuesday along with General Dimitrios Choupis, chief of the Armed Forces, for meetings with President Nikos Christodoulides and Defense Minister Vasilis Palmas to better coordinate the stance of the two allies.

Earlier Monday, a Cypriot government spokesperson said two unmanned drones heading toward RAF Akrotiri were “successfully intercepted.” The incident occurred just hours after the base had been struck by another drone.

Also on Monday, a passenger terminal at Paphos airport was evacuated after a suspicious object was detected on radar, Cyprus’s state broadcaster reported.

Here’s hoping he’s able to get in touch with family and friends before they see that!

Two drones headed to RAF base intercepted, Cyprus says

Two unmanned aerial vehicles headed towards RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus on Monday were intercepted in time, a Cypriot government spokesperson has said.

It comes after a drone hit the British base overnight on Sunday with no casualties and "minimal damage".

On Monday, employees received a message warning them of an "ongoing security threat" as sirens were reported in the area.

The UK's Ministry of Defence (MoD) had said earlier that family members would be moved to alternative accommodation as a precautionary measure following Sunday's attack.

It comes after Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said the UK had agreed to a US request to use British military bases for "defensive" strikes.

The attack on Sunday, which Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides said involved an Iranian drone, took place at around midnight local time (22:00 GMT).

The Sovereign Base Areas Administration confirmed afterwards that it was planning the "temporary dispersal of non-essential personnel" from RAF Akrotiri.

Wow. As best I can recall, no F15 of any variant has been lost in combat. 3 by blue on blue must raise some concerns and questions?

That is a fallacy. The correct comparison would be the cost of the ASRAAM versus the value of the drone’s target.

BA and EasyJet have cancelled flights into and out of Cyprus today, EasyJet thill Thursday. That’s going to strand a few people till they buy more expensive tickets.

I wonder how long that will last and if other airlines will follow suit…..

Didn't a RAF Tornado get shot down by a Patriot missile in GW1 or 2 returning from a mission. Both crew sadly lost.

@Ninthace: spot on. The value of the target is the concern.

What does "finish it" mean to you? The US has been quite clear that they are not putting boots on the ground.

Fortune magazine has an interesting look at the cyber war piece...(this is excerpted from the larger article).

The BadeSaba Calendar prayer app, which has more than 5 million downloads, had been compromised, and the app issued alerts saying, “Help has arrived!” and called for a “People’s Army” to defend their “Iranian brothers,” according to an assessment from cyber intel firm Flashpoint. On Sunday, the app sent with surrender instructions for rank-and-file members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard and safe locations for protesters to gather.

Then regime loyalists quickly struck back.

According to Flashpoint, what followed on Sunday was the “most aggressive” use so far of what’s known as Iran’s “Great Epic” cyber campaign, which is a loosely coordinated group of cyber operatives under a channel called the “Cyber Islamic Resistance.” Under the group’s umbrella, various cyber attackers have shut down gas stations in Jordan, and led attacks against U.S. and Israeli military providers to destroy data as well as conduct psychological operations mimicking the BadeSaba hack.

The next 48 hours are likely to be a period of “extreme volatility” where hacktivists and proxies “take the lead in escalation to fill the vacuum left by Tehran’s central command,” Flashpoint noted in an update. These actors are allegedly using Telegram and Reddit as a coordination hub, posting screenshots of alleged attacks as proof, although it takes weeks and sometimes months to verify accuracy, said Kathryn Raines, a former NSA expert who is now a threat intel team lead at Flashpoint.
As to the blue on blue with Kuwait: fog of war, glad they all got out of their Mudhens. As the USAF looks into this, I predict that somewhere in the findings will be "what we have here is failure to communicate" or something similar.

Correct. The US also shot down one F-18 and nearly another returning from a previous strike earlier this year, or last year.

It's been a while, but two F-15Es were downed early in Desert Storm, one by AAA and one by SA-2.
