North American Silent Night

We are not far off from singing SIlent Night 2 months off ? Anyhow came across this proposed navy project in light of the losses inflicted by NVA SAM and Triple A



It appears not to have flown

ANy thoughts?

Looks a bit like the NA/Rockwell proposal for what became the F117 programme.

Funny how we end up imitating nature isn't it.
I often look at the arcuate wings of the 787 and think they look like they seem to be stretching out to take flight.

It's just me, I know, but I look at that thing and wonder how they ever got the CG near the CL.

Must admit, although it looks kind of cool (or seagull like according to ones point of view) I'd wondered that myself.
Suspect it would have ended up with a change in the planform, or honking great carnards if it'd had ever progressed any further.
Maybe some leading edge root extensions a la Hornet?
Although that's only for high AoA flight I think?
