TYPHOON DISPLAY

A quick question, why does the Typhoon keep the Center Line tank on for it's display, would it not be better clean.

Lack of range on internal tanks, especially when flying from home base, display and then RTB without landing

More fuel; more burner time perhaps!

Worth bearing in mind also that a Typhoon will not blink an eye about the weight and drag of a single drop tank.

I enquired a few years ago as to why the C/L drop tank wasn't, er, 'dropped' for aero's, and was told that it was too much of a faff and as, Bob Viking alluded to, the Typhoon wouldn't even notice it was there anyway in terms of restricting the display routine. It certainly isn't anything to do with range on internal fuel as someone suggested...

After seeing the BAE Typhoon display at Farnborough four (?) years ago it seemed to me that a load of gubbins in the shape of AAMs and LGBs didn't appear to have made the aircraft blink an eye either.
