Squadron (Aircraft) Memorabilia

As part of the 28 Sqn Centenary celebrations we are looking to create a lasting memento of the occasion so are looking to acquire either an old Wessex blade or panel or a blade or panel from a previous Sqn type, either RW or FW (Whirlwind, Vampire, Venom etc)

We appreciate that this is probably a long shot, but if any PPRuNers are aware of a some bits that are in a need or a good home then we would be grateful for some help and pointers. Sadly those fitted to current in-service aircraft are needed so it is historical kit only

Many thanks

Best wishes to 28 for your centenary celebrations. Worked closely with 28 when I was with the Royal Hong Kong Police (both on and off duty) great bunch of guys. There is a brass factory in Hong Kong who produced a bronze casting of the cyclic stick (top grip) which I believe were used as mementos to those leaving the Squadron. They still have some to the best of my knowledge, not expensive. could give you contact details if that would help

How about a whole aircraft? XR528 previously served with 28 Sqn and has been sat at Little Rissington for a few years now doing nothing. 'Owned' by Brize I believe and she could definitely do with rescuing. Bring her to Benson, repaint to the correct scheme and she would be a brilliant sqn guardian.

Thanks for all of the replies, tips and pointers. A suitable piece has now been secured and will be unveiled on 7 Apr as a memento to mark the occasion.
