Everyday Life of Hot Russian Military Women
The shoes don't seem to go with the weapons some of them are carrying. They don't look very military at all. At a passing out do at Dartmouth some years ago, the Admiral asked my daughter why she wasn't in the Navy like her brother. "It's the shoes." she said. She might prefer the Russian army.

Looks like the so-called 'Night Witches' that were supposed to fly over the German lines on the Easter Front causing mayhem during the night.
Come 'Glasnos' and it was established that they were just a propaganda exercise to encourage the women of the Soviets to greater efforts. So much so that the women who partook got artificial honours and medals and paraded them until they died.
The Germans, renown for their accurate reporting of the military situation, never reported a female pilot as having been shot down or captured during the whole of the Eastern Campaign

I also noted the link to the Russian military buying 5 Dolphins for undisclosed reasons...

Russian defence ministry obviously hired a wrong photographer. Could hardly see really attractive girls in those photos, while there are many of them in the streets around :-) Polish photographer did a much better work :-)
P.S. 2 Fareastdriver: as for your post about "night witches" - shame on you, really. This thread is about nice girls and not about russophobias. The same level of "truth" as if I would say that the British did not fight the nazis and the latter were just moving eastward since summer 1944 to help the troops on the eastern front .
There were several real female sqdrns, the first one formed in autumn '41. Soviet bureaucracy was as accurate as the German one, and all the sorties, targets shot, losses, etc. were well-documented since 1941. And there were no idiots to fabricate this kind of stuff when the Germans were some 30 km near Moscow.

Someone's thermographic camera needs recalibrating. None of them made me feel the least stirring of patriotism.
Note the use of an innovative non-lethal weapon in Chopper2004's first photo, which has caused the photographer to be doubled up by violent sensations in the vicinity of his lower abdomen.

I think the Polish police girls must provide their own shoes. #1 in the first and second rank, first picture are wearing sling backs and there is a whole variety of heels among the rest. (never got round to checking out their caps!).
TBM-Legend, actually there was a 'WRAF gauge' at Biggin Hill. Prospective recruits had to walk through it without touching the edges; if they did, then a bell rang and they would be shown the door.
This was fine back in the days of Section Officer Harvey , but over the years the edges became more and more worn through Close Encounters of the Chubby Kind, until the gauge became rather bell-shaped....
Hence the answer as to how 'Mrs Doubtfire' managed to get in?
