BBC2 Sea Cities-HMS Monmouth
Watched this tonight - it was a sort of snap shot of the good people of Plymouth going about their working day on the waterfront. Yacht builders, Ferry people, a boat entrepreneur type trying various ways to make a living/employ people, and God bless 'em all.
What caught my eye and ear was the ships company of HMS Monmouth going through the process of having FOST (Flag Officer Sea Training) instructional staff on-board, training and testing them.
Been a few years now since I did that (9 or 10 I think). I know its TV but I was very impressed with the naval people I witnessed. The young ratings, the XO pushing it on (not easy that) and most of all the seasoned old Chief (of FOST). The obvious good standard of equipment, the cleanliness and presentation of vessel and their ratings, bearing, language, attitude...all seemed spot - on - really very good.
The Navy may be tiny now, and as distant as it ever was from the very slimy politicians who allegedly try to lead us, but I thought the people of FOST and HMS Monmouth still look the right stuff to me.
That's all. HS.

All very good HS but how does this impact on my life as an aviator, or the backroom team who support flying? Shouldn't you be posting on the Professional Fishead Rumour Network? Just sayin...
It is rather refreshing to see HS saying something good about the Navy and to shun his usual toxicity. But Party Animal has made a valid point. Is this a Military Aviation topic. Or an Aviation topic.
Potentially very interesting, but it doesn't fit the jigsaw.

Military Aviation A forum for the professionals who fly military hardware. Also for the backroom boys and girls who support the flying and maintain the equipment, and without whom nothing would ever leave the ground. All armies, navies and air forces of the world equally welcome here.
Glad to hear HS

...even though it did feature HMS Sutherland.
(Psst. The third and fourth images don't show a Merlin's cockpit.)
