The guidance system was trialed successfully years ago - a large aircraft flew, with the Global Hawk system, unmanned from USA to Australia back in early 2001 as I recall.

Interesting - I wonder if the Germans will let them overfly the FRG, considering that their own EuroHawks have been grounded.

Nope they will operate from the Med and over the the other side of the Med,
