Not a problem - release the weapon which ignites after dropping!!
It's worth remembering that in 17 hundred and frozen to death, Ben Johnson suggested a fleet of hundreds of hot air balloons to carry an airborne force and 150 years later, three complete airborne divisions are deposited in Europe - not once but three times - in the space of eight months. Besides which, it beats water skiing!

It was actually Benjamin Franklin who wrote in 1784 "Where is the prince who can afford to cover his country in troops so that a thousand men descending from the clouds could not do an infinite deal of mischief before a force could be brought together to repel them".
Or something like that anyway.

Of course not forgetting the glider troops. Interesting structure of an airlanding infantry battalion because of the capacity of the Horsa glider. Four Platoons per rifle company and four rifle companies per battalion. Add in double the morters, twice as many heavy machine guns as an ordinary Bn, included twelve six pounder anti tank guns and you have 847 soldiers in an airlanding battalion.
